CHRIS BOUSHEY

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Triathletes Name: Chris Boushey    Age Group: 45-49   Country: USA

Favourite Distance: Sprint, so far have completed 2

Hours per week: 5-8 hours

Best Results: I don’t remember.   The first TRI in Seattle, I pulled my calf muscle coming into T1.  I finished but not well.  My second TRI was a month after the Seattle TRI and my calf was just getting better.

Additional Information: When I first started training, I was a work alcoholic and started having some medical issues.  Now my mind set has changed and I put my training ahead of work 90% of the time.  I am still having some medical issues, but I haven’t let that stop me from doing what I have grown to enjoy.

How did you get started in Triathlon? Started training 1st qtr of 2011, My partner’s sister started talking to me about it and got me real excited.

 TRAINING AND RACING TIPS

Favourite Training Session: My group training on Saturdays.  A great group of people.

Favourite part of a triathlon: That is a hard one…..I think it would be finishing each leg of the race.  To say that I am that much closer to finish another TRI

What would you like to improve? Swimming and Running

Tips to stay motivated: For myself to stay motivated, I have to stay around others with same passion and desire to succeed.

How important is confidence in your racing performance? Very much.  If I stay focused and confident then I don’t think about things that can go wrong or what I look like but how I need to concur the next stroke, pedal or step.

Time saving tips: .  I have a very hard time with this.  I tend to work, train, eat and sleep.  I need advise in this department.

Tips for improving: Just keep practicing and find people that are better at it then you are.  Always ask questions.

Racing Tips:  Try not to over think it.

Future Goals: 2012 Goals to add in Olympic TRI distance and the big goal is to do a Half Ironman before I turn 50.

Why should women participate in Triathlon? It helps with your self confidence, you meet a lot of great people and it helps you get fit.

Other comments: Be the warrior and get out there and do it!!  My first TRI was Seattle Danskin which was great with it being an all women TRI.  It was amazing the number of women that participated and how many of them were willing to help others with tips.  My second TRI was mixed and was just as fun but I have to admit the atmosphere was completely different.  Try one and if you like it, keep going.  If not, you can say you completed a Triathlon!
